Who Is Quinn Sophie Arnold? Tom Arnold’s Daughter, Explained

Quinn Sophie Arnold is ten years old and wants to be a police officer. Her thirteen-year-old brother Jax wants the same. Their father, Tom Arnold, has a clear explanation for why, and it has nothing to do with admiration.

Quinn Sophie Arnold was born on December 18, 2015, in Los Angeles, at 12:39 in the afternoon. She weighed 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measured 22 inches long. Tom Arnold’s rep confirmed the birth simultaneously to People, ABC News, E! News, and Entertainment Tonight, with a joint statement from both parents: “Our second miracle has arrived and she is perfect.”

That word, miracle, was not casual. Tom Arnold had gone through IVF with three previous wives without a single successful pregnancy. By the time his then-wife Ashley Groussman became pregnant with Quinn’s older brother Jax in 2013, Tom had quietly accepted fatherhood was probably not going to happen for him. Jax arrived in April of that year. Tom was 54. Quinn followed in December 2015 when he was 56. The night before she was born, he posted one line on Twitter: “I love being a dad so much I’m going to do it one more time tomorrow.”

Tom Arnold: Who He Is and How He Got Here

Tom Arnold was born on March 6, 1959, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He is 67. Most people know him from two things: playing Arnie Thomas on the ABC sitcom Roseanne through the late 1980s and 1990s, and appearing alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in James Cameron’s True Lies (1994). He hosted The Best Damn Sports Show Period for four years and appeared in Netflix’s FUBAR (2023) and the Tubi series Underdeveloped (2023), both alongside Schwarzenegger, who has been a close friend since the True Lies shoot nearly 30 years ago.

Three previous marriages, to Roseanne Barr, Julie Lynn Champnella, and Shelby Roos, each involved IVF treatment. None of them produced a child. Doctors pointed in part to low sperm count. For a stretch of years Tom said openly that he had made peace with the idea that fatherhood was not going to be part of his life. Quinn and Jax came along and rewrote that entirely.

He has been sober since at least 2018. He marked five years publicly on Instagram in 2023.

Ashley Groussman: Quinn’s Mother

Ashley Groussman is a professional home organizer and crystal decorator based in Los Angeles. She runs her own business, which she documents on Instagram under @agorganizer.

She and Tom met through mutual friends, dated for 19 months, and married in Maui over Thanksgiving weekend in 2009, before 75 guests. It was Tom’s fourth marriage. At the time they separated in January 2019, Tom described her publicly as 42 years old. Since the divorce, Groussman has stayed private, focused on her work and on co-parenting Quinn and Jax.

Tom Arnold and Ashley Groussman’s Divorce and Custody Settlement

The court-listed date of separation is January 1, 2019. Tom confirmed the split publicly on January 22, telling Us Weekly: “For the last couple years we grew apart and have been moving in different directions.”

He filed for divorce in February 2019 in Los Angeles Superior Court, seeking joint custody of both children. Quinn was three at the time. Jax was five.

The separation became contentious. Ashley filed restraining orders against Tom, alleging erratic behavior at custody exchanges. A judge denied one of the applications and ordered a further hearing. Both sides eventually put out a joint statement: “We are pleased to report that we have arrived at an amicable resolution to our custody issues. We continue to work with a co-parenting therapist and are committed to raising our family in a healthy and cooperative manner.”

The divorce was finalised on July 16, 2020, in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Per court documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight:

  • Joint custody, with time divided equally during the week and holidays split evenly
  • Tom pays $4,383 per month in spousal support until he turns 65. He turned 65 on March 6, 2024. Those payments have ended.
  • Tom pays $2,617 per month in child support until each child turns 18
  • Tom pays 50% of net income from 12 intellectual properties created during the marriage, including work connected to NCIS and Trailer Park Boys
  • Tom permanently waived his right to receive spousal support from Ashley

The years of police presence at custody handoffs, court filings, and restraining order hearings ran through the earliest years of both children’s lives.

“My kids both want to be cops because they have seen so many police,” Tom told People in December 2025. “From the time they were very young, they’ve seen a lot of this stuff.”

Tom Arnold Had a Stroke in 2022. Quinn Was in the Room.

In January 2022, Tom was running a counting game with Quinn and Jax at bath time. He stood at the door with his hands over his eyes, counted to ten, and turned back around. He could not see out of his right eye.

Quinn was six. Jax was eight.

He got both children to bed without telling them what was wrong. His vision partially returned. He booked a morning flight to Alaska to film a television show. A doctor told him the next day he had suffered a stroke. On the UCLA stroke severity scale, it registered a one out of ten.

That came roughly two years after a separate episode of major organ failure.

After the stroke, Tom lost between 75 and 80 pounds and rebuilt his health. In a 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he was straightforward about the reason: “I got kids. My kids Jax and Quinn are here. And I realized, I better get in shape.”

Schwarzenegger was part of his support network through the recovery. Jax keeps a poster of Schwarzenegger’s bodybuilding competition days on his bedroom wall. Quinn, by Tom’s account, told her father she could not believe he was friends with him.

Where Quinn Sophie Arnold Is Today

Quinn Arnold is ten years old. She has no social media presence and no public profile. She lives in Los Angeles and, beyond a handful of appearances alongside her father, stays out of view. In November 2023, she attended the world premiere of Adventures of the Naked Umbrella alongside Tom and Jax, photographed by Getty Images.

Tom has been taking both children on the road with him for stand-up when school schedules allow. He told People in December 2025 that Jax will watch from the wings and offer notes afterward: “I’d look over at the side of the stage and he’d be sitting there watching and afterwards he’d say, ‘I have notes. You forgot this one joke.'”

In that same interview, Tom spoke about what Quinn and Jax took from growing up in the middle of a difficult divorce.

“My kids have never seen their mom and I hug or have any kind of thing like that,” he said. “Which is actually better in a lot of ways, because some families have divorces and the kids have idealised, romanticised what that life was like.”

Tom Arnold is 67. Quinn Sophie Arnold turns 11 in December. In every interview since the stroke, when someone asks what drove him to change everything, he gives the same answer: his kids. Quinn came into his life at 56, when most people figured his story was already written. She and her brother proved otherwise.

Jordan Berglund started Daily News Magazine in January 2026 after spending the better part of a decade reporting for UK regional papers. He moved to London from Stockholm in 2018 and cut his teeth covering business, politics, entertainment, and breaking news across Europe, which gave him a front-row seat to how traditional newsrooms were struggling to adapt. He studied journalism at Uppsala University and later trained at the Reuters Institute, but most of what he knows about running a newsroom came from years of watching what worked and what didn't. He still reports on UK politics, celebrity news, sports, technology, and European affairs when he's not editing, and he's building Daily News Magazine around the idea that speed and accuracy don't have to be enemies.
