Emma Stone and Chris Hemsworth Aren’t in Tangled. Here’s Who Is

Emma Stone and Chris Hemsworth are not in Disney’s live action Tangled. Neither actor has been cast in the film, and neither has been linked to it by Disney or by any trade publication covering the production. The pairing comes from fan made concept trailers that began circulating in January 2026, casting Stone as Rapunzel and Hemsworth as Flynn Rider.

The accounts behind those videos label them as concept trailers in the titles. The clips have moved across several platforms since January and were still being reposted in July 2026.

Who Disney actually cast as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider

Confirmed cast and crew

  • Rapunzel: Teagan Croft
  • Flynn Rider: Milo Manheim
  • Mother Gothel: Kathryn Hahn
  • Director: Michael Gracey
  • Screenplay: Jennifer Kaytin Robinson
  • Producer: Kristin Burr
  • Release date: not yet announced

Disney named Croft and Manheim through its own Instagram account in March 2026. Hahn was confirmed as Mother Gothel the same month and posted a video of herself in a Mother Gothel shirt shortly afterwards. Scarlett Johansson had been reported in talks for that role before it went to Hahn.

Filming has been running since the spring. Footage from the set showing Croft in costume as Rapunzel appeared online in the final week of July 2026.

Where the fake Tangled trailers came from

A video titled “Tangled: Live Action (2026), Emma Stone and Chris Hemsworth, Concept Trailer” was posted to a YouTube channel called Fandom Topics on 30 January 2026. An account posting as Ultimate Studios put out its own version on Instagram on 4 March 2026. TikTok was still surfacing the pairing on 6 July 2026.

Ultimate Studios has used the same format for other films. On 14 March 2026 it posted a fake Frozen trailer pairing Stone with Amanda Seyfried.

A second source of confusion sits closer to reality. Stone’s next confirmed film is a romantic comedy called The Catch, and its male lead is Chris Pine. When Deadline reported in April 2026 that Universal had dated the film for 21 May 2027, the trade site World of Reel remarked on how readily the two actors get swapped, writing that “if you’re unable to cast Chris Pine, you go for Chris Hemsworth.”

Have Emma Stone and Chris Hemsworth ever worked together?

No. The two have never shared a film, and no project pairing them has ever been announced or reported.

They have appeared together once, on television. Both sat for episode 4263 of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on 5 June 2012. NBC’s photographs from that taping, credited to Stacie McChesney and held by Getty Images, show the two talking during a commercial break and sitting side by side on the sofa during the broadcast. Hemsworth was there for Snow White and the Huntsman, which had opened the previous Friday. Stone was 23, and her first superhero film reached cinemas the following month.

Why the casting rumour was believable

Stone has carried a Disney live action film before. She played the title role in Cruella in 2021, which took $233 million worldwide against a reported budget of $100 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

Hemsworth has his own Disney fairy tale credit on paper. Deadline reported in October 2024 that he was in talks to play the lead in a Disney project called Prince Charming, with Paul King attached to direct.

There is one further overlap, and it involves this film directly. Kristin Burr, producing the live action Tangled, also produced Cruella.

What both actors have coming

The nearer release belongs to Hemsworth. He returns as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, which Marvel has dated for 18 December 2026. His last film reached cinemas in February, when Crime 101, a heist thriller with Halle Berry and Mark Ruffalo, opened against a reported budget of around $90 million and finished its theatrical run at roughly $72 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. Reviews were largely positive. The film went to number one on Prime Video in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia in early April. He began shooting the crime drama Kockroach in New South Wales in late April 2026, and Extraction 3 was reported to have started production in June 2026.

Stone’s next release is further out. The Catch arrives in May 2027, directed by her husband, Dave McCary. Her most recent film, Bugonia, carried her through this year’s awards season and brought her two nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, one for her performance and one as a producer on a Best Picture nominee. That took her career total to seven nominations, more than any other woman has reached at her age, passing a record held by Meryl Streep. She lost Best Actress to Jessie Buckley for Hamnet on 15 March 2026.

Filming on the real Tangled continued through July, with Croft and Manheim in the two roles the concept trailers had given to Stone and Hemsworth.
