Who Is Gareth Pierce Wife? Meet Amy Lee Pierce

Gareth Pierce has been one of the most talked-about faces on Coronation Street since 2020, and with his character at the centre of a major ongoing storyline in 2026, a lot of people are now looking past the screen. His wife is Amy Lee Pierce, and she is about as far from the spotlight as it gets.

Here is the full picture on Amy, their family, and the Welsh actor behind Todd Grimshaw.

Who Is Amy Lee Pierce?

Amy Lee Pierce is Gareth Pierce’s wife. The couple married in April 2014 and have lived in Manchester together ever since, close to the Coronation Street set. They have one daughter, born around 2016.

Amy has no public social media accounts. She has never given an interview, has not appeared at any industry events alongside Gareth, and has not been photographed publicly in any capacity connected to his career. That is a consistent position she has held for the entirety of Gareth’s time at Coronation Street.

Several low-quality websites have published a completely fabricated version of her name. Her confirmed name, verified across Heart.co.uk, YorkshireLive, and the Coronation Street Blog, is Amy Lee Pierce.

Beyond those confirmed facts, very little about Amy’s professional background, hometown, or personal history exists in the public domain. That is not a reporting gap. She has simply chosen, clearly and consistently, to keep her life private.

Their Family Life

The closest most people get to Gareth Pierce’s home life is through his Instagram account, @garpierce, which has over 75,000 followers. He does not post photos of Amy’s face or their daughter’s, but the account still tells you something about who he is off screen.

Family hikes through Wales appear regularly. So do Go Ape trips, beach holidays, and countryside walks. In holiday shots, his daughter can be spotted from behind or in the sea, but Gareth has never shared her name publicly and keeps her identity out of anything connected to his work.

His daughter was born around 2016. In an October 2020 interview, Gareth mentioned spending lockdown “homeschooling my four-year-old daughter, which was an adventure.” A 2021 report from Heart.co.uk placed her age at five at the time. She is around nine or ten years old now.

On 19 February 2026, Gareth turned 45. He posted a short message on Instagram: “Thanks for the birthday wishes! Great day so far with my girls.” Coronation Street fans were more preoccupied with how young he looks for 45 — several commented they had assumed he was in his early thirties — but the post quietly confirmed that his family remains central to his life outside of work.

Who Is Gareth Pierce?

Gareth Pierce was born on 19 February 1981 in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, Wales. He grew up in a Welsh-speaking household, which put him on a path through Welsh-language television before his profile expanded across the wider UK.

He spent five series playing Osian James in S4C’s Caerdydd between 2006 and 2010, then moved into English-language productions with roles in Stella (Sky 1), Ordinary Lies (BBC1), Mr Selfridge, and Hinterland. In 2013, he narrated all eleven episodes of Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited and played George of Clarence at Shakespeare’s Globe in a production of Henry VI.

From 2019 through to 2024, he played Gavin Moss in BBC Radio 4’s The Archers, a role he held alongside his Coronation Street commitments.

He also co-founded the Welsh band Hafaliadau = Equations with Matthew Wall in 2008, releasing their debut album the same year.

Joining Coronation Street came about in unusual circumstances. Gareth had self-taped an audition before the first Covid-19 lockdown began in 2020, then heard nothing for months. In his own words: “I was at home like a lot of people, homeschooling my four-year-old daughter, which was an adventure. I suppose it was early July then that everything came back onto the radar and Corrie got in touch, said I was still in the mix, then I was very suddenly heading up the M4, M5, M6 for screentests.”

He became the second actor to play Todd Grimshaw, replacing Bruno Langley, whose contract was terminated after a conviction for sexual assault in 2017. His first episode aired on 9 October 2020.

Growing up in North Wales, the show had been part of his family home. “It was a massive show for us as a family growing up in North Wales,” he said. “It felt quite nostalgic, quite comforting, a bit like coming home.”

His co-star Sue Cleaver, who plays Todd’s mother Eileen Grimshaw, gave a direct endorsement of the casting: “He’s such a subtle actor, with great nuances.”

Why People Are Searching for Gareth Pierce Right Now

Gareth’s profile has climbed sharply since 2025 because of a major storyline that has drawn significant attention. His character Todd Grimshaw has been living through a same-sex domestic abuse relationship with partner Theo Silverton, played by James Cartwright. The plot began in March 2025 and has run through to the present.

The storyline has covered financial control, gaslighting, and physical violence. A special episode in December 2025 was filmed entirely through CCTV footage, police body cameras, and a ring doorbell. In episodes that aired on 9 March 2026, Theo pulled a knife on Todd after a birthday dinner collapsed into a confrontation.

Coronation Street developed the storyline in partnership with Galop, the LGBTQ+ anti-abuse charity. Gareth spoke about the responsibility of the plot in December 2025:

“It’s important that people feel seen, and that charities who can offer a way out are well signposted.”

The story has been widely covered and brought a new wave of viewers to the show, many of whom are now curious about the actor behind it.

Off Screen, a Different Life Entirely

Gareth Pierce has been married to Amy Lee Pierce for over eleven years. They have a daughter who is now around nine or ten, a home in Manchester, and a shared approach to privacy that has kept their family life entirely separate from everything Coronation Street brings with it.

On screen, Todd Grimshaw is navigating one of the most harrowing storylines on British television right now. Off screen, Gareth Pierce is posting birthday messages about his girls and going on family hikes in Wales.

That contrast is not something he has made a big statement about. He simply lives both lives, and keeps them apart.
